What do people say about us?

Esther Dadswell
Maid of Honour
Having known Adele for over twenty years, that’s an ‘I feel old’ moment, there wouldn’t be many things we haven’t shared and told each other. If I was to read over my diaries from the 00’s (every 90’s girl kept these right?) Adele’s name would be on every page because we did everything together. From riding around the local ‘hood’ on our bikes (we were the most courteous youths on bikes ever), dancing in the art studio to keep our sanity, to sharing our very first parent free holiday together. I remember when Adele told me she had found her very own Mr Grey (with an A)! This conjured up many an image, but Cameron has turned out to be Adele’s perfect Mr Gray. I am beyond excited to add such a special day of Adele’s life to our memories together.

Our Story

How We Met

Cameron and Adele were both at separate universities when they met through a mutual acquaintance on a night out in Cambridge. That’s right, you read correctly, Adele was out drinking. Although neither of them was looking for anything, something was just right, and that was the start of their love story. It’s safe to say that Cameron and Adele didn’t have it easy at the start of their relationship – Long distance for the first two years was difficult, but they continued to spend time on the weekends seeing each other. Adele and Cameron would travel to watch each other play their respective sport, both learning and opening their eyes to a sport that neither of them new much about.

Milestones

After finishing university, due to a graduate job opportunity, Adele moved to Haverhill. Both Cameron and Adele would say that neither of them fully knew what they wanted to do career wise after they graduated, but they both worked hard and dived into adventures together.

Holidays

Cameron and Adele have had some lovely holidays together - not as many as they would like, but still great holidays.

Their first holiday together was in August 2016, where they travelled to Vegas and Orlando in the US, with Stuart and Tracy (Cameron’s Parents). Whilst in Vegas, Cameron and Adele visited the Grand Canyon, which Cameron describes as surreal. They were lucky enough to have a helicopter ride over the canyon and a boat ride along the river. The photos don’t do it justice. In Orlando, Florida, they were able to visit Disney Parks, Universal Orlando, and travel to Cape Canaveral to see the Nasa Space Centre.

2017, the year where Cameron and Adele did the most travelling together by themselves. February saw themselves fly off to Iceland. As a natural geography geek, Adele was in her element. We’ll brush over the fact that Cameron nearly fell to his death on the first day and only escaped with a muddy left side for the rest of the day. With trips to the Blue Lagoon, glaciers and natural wonders, Iceland provided a week of spectacular adventures.

Italy, July 2017 - Pizza and Pasta, Adele’s element. Cameron and Adele travelled to Sorrento, Italy for a week. It was a much-needed break from normality. Visits to Pompeii and Vesuvius were extraordinary and Adele even taught Cameron how to use her DLSR camera and get creative. In the middle of a heat way, it forced the two of them to relax. Cameron and Adele are not the ones to sit and do nothing on holiday. They like to get up and do things. They still managed to walk into the town, despite the burning heat, and found a gorgeous cove on the coast.

Cameron and Adele have also had plenty of UK holidays in Scotland and the Peak District, and plan to do more in the future around the UK.

We’re going to skip the part where Cameron developed pneumonia and stayed for a week in hospital, in Cyprus at his sister’s wedding. At least they got an extra week of holiday time when everyone went home.

Loki

Cameron and Adele’s fur baby, their everything. For those that have known Adele for a long time, they know that Adele has grown up with cats her whole life and would never have thought she’d have a dog. Loki is mischievous, playful, lovable, and provides Cameron and Adele with entertainment, unconditional love, and comfort. Not only that, but his love for their friends and family is infectious. Loki will not be at the wedding – mainly due to the fact he’ll probably get too excited and wee himself, but also, you’ll all have a visit from a dog that is willing to give everyone his cutest puppy dog eyes to get your food. He is a Labrador after all. We will be thinking of him though.

Our First House

Cameron and Adele were able to purchase their first house together in 2018, and move in, in 2019. It’s like a never-ending waiting game with new-build properties. Cameron and Adele know how lucky they have been to be able to own their own home at a young age, and to do the majority if it by themselves, through hard work, and sacrificing holidays and adventures they have wanted to go on. That house is still slowly being turned into a home.

The Proposal

Everyone always asks, did you know it was coming, and honestly Adele did not. For anyone that knows Cameron well, you’ll know he’s a bit of an adventurer and this is a key factor to this story. Cameron and Adele and decided to do a quick weekend getaway in the Peak District in early September 2021 – Cameron’s idea. We know why now!

Cameron and Adele had decided to climb up to the top of Mam Tor, from the bottom (517m high). Of course, what comes up, must come down, so Cameron and Adele started to make their way back down Mam Tor, but a different route, to get some great photos. Of course, Cameron decided to go off the tracks because he thought he could see a better route down – and for those of you thinking, surely it wasn’t straight off the edge of Mam Tor… well, it may as well have.

As they’re making their way down, due to the steepness of the hill, Adele’s feet kept coming out from underneath her. With Cameron nowhere to be seen for he was ‘checking the route ahead,’ Adele ended up, what could only be described as really ugly crying, with snot coming out of her nose and just altogether hating where she was. When Cameron came back for Adele, she unceremoniously told Cameron she hated him for leaving her behind.

Long story short, Cameron and Adele made it to the bottom of the Mam Tor – Adele looking a little worse for wear.

As Cameron and Adele continued their adventures through the Peak District that day, they discovered Owler Tor – a picturesque area of large boulders and a tree with roots coming out of the ground. They meandered down and Cameron told Adele to walk the other way, turn around and run at him – and of course, that’s when he got down on one knee. Cameron had always threatened proposing with a Haribo ring – we’re so glad he didn’t.
